"Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way of everlasting."
Palm 139:23-24
The word "search" translated into the scandinavian tongues would be "ransack".
It takes little imagaination to picture the thoroughness of a job of ransacking as
compared to mere searching.
Ransacking turns things upside down and brings to light things that are hidden or forgotten.
Anything which grieves the Holy Spirit of God is a hinderance to blessing, and stands in the way of a revival.
The Searching of the Heart by the Holy Spirit shows believers how they have strayed from the way, and confession of the sin leads them back to the path of fellowship. This in itself is spiritual revival.
